wanna come hang out?

If you would have come over to hang out this weekend, here’s what we would have done.

Friday night, we would have walked downtown for Mexican food.  You probably would have worn jeans too, because it felt like fall!

photo 1 (7)

You would have met Kelsey!  Maybe you would have joined her for a margarita?

photo 2 (8)

You also would have met this guy! <3

photo 3 (8)

And you would have ordered food, that probably looked similar to this.

Hellooooo way-over-salted beans + veggie filled enchilada that had a very strange sweet-almost Asian flavored sauce.

photo 4 (8)

Saturday, I would have drug you out of bed for breakfast.  Which would you have chosen?  Then we would have walked about 1 mile to the market and gotten stopped by a 1 mile, 50min bike race!  It was extremely exciting + nerve-racking to watch.  They sped around the corners SO FAST!!!

photo 5 (6)

If you were here, you would have been in this photo.  It was bright!

photo 2 (6)

We would have walked around the market for an hour, mulling over things to buy.

Perhaps you would have wanted to split a bag of bruised better-than-Georgia-peaches for 50% off?

 photo 3 (6)That’s what K + I did!

Juice.Dripping.Everywhere.

photo 4 (6)

Colorado peach excitement!

photo 5 (4)

peaches.

photo 4

pickling cukes + maters.

photo 1

AH-maaaazing local cheese.  Love MouCo and I had a $1 off coupon.  I would have shared.  I think.

photo (5)

$1 organic peppers?  Oh yes.

photo 2

Organic romaine, double the size of my head for $2.50?  Oh yes.

photo 3

Salad the size of my head, slathered in mmm-sauce?  Ohhhhh yes.

photo 2 (2)

Then, we would have gone on a bike ride, where I finally used my clipless pedals!!!!  Woohoo!

photo 5

We would have ridden 20 miles, for our first outdoor ride of the season.  I’ve really missed cycling!!

photo (6)

You would have seen me fall over too!  I was doing really well with the pedals, and only fell once, to avoid hitting a woman walking. My options were: plow into her or fall over.

So I fell + I was okay.  The woman felt horrible, but I was glad I didn’t run her over.

photo 1 (2)

Then, I would have convinced you to go tubing down the Poudre River.  Are you tired yet?

Chris decided to take the kayak out, while we tubed.

photo 5 (2)

By we I mean, Eric + Kelsey of course!

photo 1 (3)

Silly kayak outfit.

photo 2 (3)

It started out a gorgeous, warm day, but was quickly covered by clouds.  The water is quite cold, because it’s run-off from mountain snow.

photo 4 (2)

I may look happy here…

photo 4 (3)

But really, I was a grumpy + freeeeezing cold!!  Somehow my tube, was 3x slower than everyone else’s.  No fun!

photo 5 (3)

After tubing, I would have fed you tortilla pizzas, and then we would have biked downtown to Equinox for a brew + game of Sorry.

photo 3 (5)

If you were here, I’m sure I still would have lost.  Both times!

photo 4 (5)

Hope you enjoyed your visit!

Ashley

I have never seen a Kayak outfit - ha, that is quite a style for Chris ;)

So glad we got to see you guys, even though it was brief, on Friday night! We should've stuck around for those peeeeaches (not that I was capable of staying awake for another minute, ha). YUM!

Hey! I have that same exact bike "outfit"! Blue PI sleeveless + PI shorts (I'm partial to the bibs, tho) ;) <3 PI!

I'm exhausted from hanging out with you...but in such a good, satisfied, I-had-an-awesome-day kind of way.

Yay for Colorado peaches! Palisade?

August 21, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterKatie

Sounds like a blast! haha I get excited over peaches too :)

Oh Ashley, now feel bad I didn't come over for real! If I'm ever in your neck of the woods, we'll have to relive this! ;)

Ugh I was missing noco anyway and wow, this looks so fun. I'm glad somebody's taking advantage of living in such a gorgeous area. Also, I have clipless pedals too, and have also fallen over. With witnesses, but without the benefit of a noble reason. Just . . . tipped over. :)

I have most certainly enjoyed my visit! Love the kayak outfit! That water must have been bone-chilling for your face almost looks blue! lol

Well dang, I wish I could have hung out! Looks like a ton of fun!

August 21, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterMary @ Bites and Bliss

I would have loved to hang out.

And as a kid, I spent hundreds of hours playing the game Sorry in the summertime. Oh, memories :)

I really want to go tubing down a river now! I have the ocean though, so I guess it evens out. Although the clouds seem like they want to stay for awhile. Looks like fun jam-packed day!

August 21, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterLorin

FUNdayyyy, I want to tube down a river so badly. Does it ever get out of control or is it more of a lazy river? It's my dream to live in Colorado, i love all the outdoor fun you have!

How fun! I've been wanting to go tubing ALL summer long!! Looks like y'all ad a great weekend!

"Loved it!" was too short a comment for Wordpress, so, I laughed out loud at this post, loved the way it was done, and think that would have been one of the funnest weekends ever! There. WHEW. So much for less is more :P

August 21, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterAshley

Thanks Jackie!!

August 21, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterAshley

It's definitely NOT a lazy river!!! There are about 8 "rapid" areas where it's choppy + really fun!

August 21, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterAshley

It looks a little overly blue in that photo for some reason, but my lips were definitely blue-ish!! The water isn't too bad, but it was windy + the sun was hiding. :)

August 21, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterAshley

hehehe :) I'm sure that will happen to me as well.

August 21, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterAshley

I don't think they were from Palisade...I try to scope out the organic peaches, which are never in the "Palisade" peach tent.

August 21, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterAshley

I'm peasick!!! Would you have gone tubing?? :)

August 21, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterAshley

Hey Ashley, It sounds and looks like it was a great weekend! Actually a newbie to the Colorado area as my husband just took a job in Boulder. We live in Lafayette. We're planning on heading to Fort Collins to explore sometime soon! Any suggestions for healthy/vegetarian restaurants in the area? I've been a reader for a while now and love your blog - photography is awesome!

That's awesome!! Welcome Maria!! I have a lot of suggestions for you - Tasty Harmony [our favorite!!] - La Luz [fresh, healthy, quick Mexican] - Walrus [BEST ice cream - although the store is a bit grungy ;)] La Creperie - [French crepes savory + sweet] The Rio [if you want sit down Mexican - a bit pricey] Equinox - [our favorite local brewery - my fav. beer is the Eclipse Brown] Red Table Cafe - great breakfast + lunch menu - very veggie friendly - The Mayor of Old Town [100 beers on tap! brand new bar and they have most of the Red Table Cafe menu all day/night] Avogadro's Number - [they make their own tempeh! decent food, cheep! tempeh Philly cheese steak, falafel sandwiches, tempeh burger - also have meat] Hope this helps!

August 22, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterAshley

Thanks Ashley! My husband's a huge beer fan so we will definitely be trying Equinox/The Mayor of Old Town. Thanks for the recos!
