costa rica {sand + sky}

Snippets of the sand + sky that we encountered while enjoying our time in Costa Rica.  I became obsessed with the clouds that changed by the minute!

This little travel bug ended up turning into a full blown sinus/cold/flu/??.  I’ve been downing water, hot tea, orange juice + crushed ice, tons of green veggies, smoothies, vitamins, etc. and so far it’s not budging.  Needless to say, not much has gotten done this week as I sit in front of the computer in a foggy daze.

I tried to teach Dakota how to make me tea but you can guess how well that worked.

I hope to be back to my normal, recipe making, doughnut creating self by next week!

Have a great weekend!

Those pictures scream one word...relaxation. Now if I could just figure out a way to snap my fingers and go there, like right now, that would be pretty awesome. Hope you get to feeling better soon!

Protein! Body needs it to make all immunity cells. Nutrient often neglected when we think of cold/flu treatment, but sooooo important.

@Becca - Yes! I've been eating protein packed breakfasts and lots of beans, etc. for lunch + dinner.

Oh my gosh those photos are breathtaking. I'm so jealous of your Costa Rican adventure! What other countries have you been to outside of the U.S.? Canada, Ireland, and Costa Rica? Any plans to go anywhere else?

@Andrea - I've been to Canada a few times but haven't really done any sightseeing there. They've just been quick overnight trips. I would love to explore there more! I went to Italy for 10 days in my junior year of college as part of an architecture class I took. We visited Genoa and Rome and had to complete a project while we were there. It was an amazing trip. Chris and I both love adventures and traveling and have dreams of going so many other places! Our next big idea is to hopefully hit up Northern Europe [Norway, Sweden, Denmark] and travel around by bike. Getting back to Ireland is pretty high up on our list, too. We also keep saying we need to set aside time to travel around Colorado. There are so many things to do and see right here!

Beautiful photos!!! As to your flu, eat fresh garlic cloves (1-3 a day). Cut them up into small bites and chew! Wash it down with water if needed. Also, drink a "tea" of fresh lemon, minced ginger and honey with hot water. SO refreshing, and it helps make you feel better.

Apple cider vinegar (raw with "the mother") is awesome for colds! I usually mix mine with some warm water and honey and drink it down a few times a day. Not tasty but effective! Feel better soon!
