it’s Sunday…part II

It’s been such a lovely Sunday so far and it’s only 5:30pm!  While we’ve done more than laze around the house, it’s still been completely relaxing + fun.

After playing the “what do you want to do, no what do YOU want to do game” for 20min, we decided to go bouldering at Horsetooth.  Then we looked out the window and a storm was definitely headed our way.

So we quickly wrangled the dogs up for a 1.5m walk to our car.  Because last night, we drove our car to the bluegrass show + walked home. [Chris’s bike had a flat]

The rain came about 2min after we got in the car.  #perfecttiming

I hope all of you out East are staying safe with hurricane Irene!!

After our walk, we hit up a neighborhood open house.

Call us nosy, or curious, we just had to check it out.

Completely renovated, charming 2BR 2BA – large backyard – finished loft/upstairs – 6’ tall crawl space, going for a nice chunk of change.  How about $350,000?  WHAT!  If it sells for $300,000, I will be quite impressed.

Then, no Sunday would be complete without a little Home Depot action.

Actually, we haven’t been to Home Depot or Lowes in weeks, maybe months!

photo 4

Got a few random odds + ends and we were on our way home.

Bodyrock time.  Man did I sweat my face off.

I did the 12min, Booty Firm Up workout.  Yowza.

Then I did moves #1,2,3,6,7,8 from this awesomely hard ab workout.  I’ve done this workout 3 times now and it’s killer.

Recovery smoothie!

Cantaloupe protein smoothie, topped with coconut butter, AKA magic shell!

Cantaloupe Protein Smoothie

  • 2c cantaloupe [cut from fresh + frozen]
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1 scoop Raw Protein [17g protein]
  • 1t maca powder [opt]
  • 1c non-gmo unsweetened organic soymilk

Blend, Blend, Blend!!

Check out the magic shell!!  Coconut butter is completely melty at room temperature, but as soon as it hits something cold, it hardens.  I broke it apart with my mallet of a spoon and enjoyed the added crunch + flavor.

And one of my favorite snacks as of late?

A pickling cucumber [minimal seeds, super crunchy!] + 2% cottage cheese + salt + pepper.

Off to enjoy the 2nd half of Sunday…still no clue what’s in store for the rest of the evening!

Hope you’re having a good one!

that ab workout looks great - thanks for sharing!

How much do you love having an iPhone?!

I just moved my coconut butter from the fridge to the garage so it will get melty and I can have a magic shell. :)

Just checked out that protein powder...looks amazing! I wonder if Whole Foods carries it.

August 29, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterAngela (Oh She Glows)

They definitely have it!!! It's quite pricey in the store, unless you can get it on sale. I also find $5 coupons for it frequently, but the cheapest place I've seen it is online for about $25. I never used a daily protein powder until just recently when I amped up my workouts and it really helps. I feel like this powder is real food protein though! They don't make any "flavors" but it almost has an oat-like taste and isn't chalky at all. It definitely still has a noticeable texture, but for some reason I kind of like it...almost like when you grind oats into a smoothie. :) WF has sample packs if you want to try it out. The same company makes a "protein meal powder" but I've heard that one doesn't taste the best.

August 29, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterAshley

I do love it!! It's so nice to take out + about and not lug the big camera. My point n' shoot has been out of commission for quite some time! Oh yes, magic shell!

Welcome!! So far it seems great!

YEsss, homemade butter all the way! SO much cheaper. A 1lb bag got me 2, 8oz jars of coconut butter and cost about $3.

August 29, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterAshley

Ooooh, I hope they turn out well!!

August 29, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterAshley

Question: is there a difference between coconut butter and coconut oil? Are they one in the same?

August 29, 2011 | Unregistered CommenterSophie

They are quite different. Coconut butter is made with the meat of the coconut, which is retained in the product, adding fiber + other nutrients. Coconut oil, is the oil extracted from the meat of the coconut, leaving just the oil. Coconut oil is great for cooking, especially at high heat. They are both packed fULL of great nutritional benefits. I use coconut butter to top things and coconut oil for cooking/baking. :) Also, coconut butter can easily be made at home with unsweetened shredded coconut, processed in your food processor for about 5-8min. I have a recipe for it on my recipe page if you're interested.
